The film reflects on how to live life to the fullest and why the journey of life is not always smooth sailing, but rather accompanied by setbacks, uncertainty, obstacles, and failures, and why it is often painful and difficult. Zborník, Hanka, and Eda, this strange trio, seemingly disparate in age and character, experience a series of vicissitudes and crises over the course of a few days, both comical and quite dramatic, in order to come to the realization, each in their own way, that life is not a walk in the park, nor a well-trodden dry path, but that every act of recklessness, stupidity, irresponsibility, or betrayal must be paid for dearly. An intimate story about a steamroller, but more about a trio of strange people who, thanks to this machine, experience several extraordinary days together.

A new patient enters the psychiatric sanatorium Sluneční dvůr. It is a high school Czech professor Robert Kilian, suffering from depressive neurasthenia, which manifests itself in a morbid indecision. On his first business trip in a new place, driver Rudo has an accident. A drunken truck driver dented the fender of the tatraplane and drove off while Ruda went to a pub for a beer. His situation looks desperate. He arrives in Prague distraught. But his wife Marie finds a way out. She remembers an old friend and hopes he can help them fix the car before morning. The friend, Plachetka, gets other helpers and the car is finally fixed during the night. Plachetka, his wife, Rabas the painter and Kroupa the plumber all lend a helping hand to the couple. Rudo's place is saved. The friendship, willingness and understanding of a few individuals has done a good job.

Pavel Gromov is the first mate on a Russian scientific ship. Pavel"s pregnant girlfriend Lena is sailing with him. The young people plan to get married after the expedition. It turns out that Pavel's friend Gleb who is a chief engineer on the same ship has been hopelessly in love with Lena. During the expedition Somalian pirates attack the ship. Gleb decides to take a chance and get rid off his rival.
